Nu Skin’s public relation efforts payed off this week when The Dr. Oz show featured the Pharmanex BioPhotonic Scanner, a device that measures antioxidant levels in the body. Nu Skin effectively publicized the product highlight through social media, blogs and other Internet channels.
Corporate MLMs can learn from Nu Skin’s success of capitalizing on Dr. Oz’s endorsement by preparing a tool kit of of media messages to pulse out after the event. Creating added buzz will generate excitement for the product and increase membership and sales.
Here are a few basic steps to build a MLM media tool kit:
1. Let distributors know about the event–especially top leaders. Send the date, time and station to make it easy for distributors to watch. Encourage everyone to tell their downline, friends and family about the show.
2. Use the company’s Twitter and Facebook accounts to share the news before and after the event. Use the video clip on the social media posts as soon as it’s made available. Encourage MLM corporate executives to tweet out the news through their personal accounts.
3. Send a prepared press release to local media and through Internet press release submission sites.
4. Include the endorsement on the product’s information page.
5. Prepare a video clip for MLM sales representatives to use in presentations when on the road.
Free advertising on a national level does not happen too often. Use every opportunity to generate added sales by capitalizing on free advertising with a prepared media tool kit.
